All-Consuming

Poetry Oct 14, 2024

by Mikayla Henry

My eyes may feast on you aplenty,
but let my chipped canines crunch
down on the marrow that constitutes
your collarbones.

Let me court the cicada inked
on your thigh to crawl down
my throat and embed itself
to multiply.

Let me tuck an eyelash –
or antenna –
in between my gums
like a delicate kernel
for later.

It can be something small,
some cell of yours,
just as long as I
can swallow you
whole.
