Shadows

Oh to be in the dark
to hide behind
the curtain of lies
the mask of perfection
such beautiful deception
bright light that shines
can’t hide behind
the curtains open
my mask falls
wondering have I been real at all?
seeking the shadows hoping to hide
but only in light then do I find
scars, cracks, mistakes in my mold
am I someone worth to hold?
perfection is rejection of reality
so I must not hide behind lies
allowing myself to be in light, so I can shine
