Warm up

Poetry Sep 8, 2025

by Ian Schebel

hot water hisses a cautionary tale out of the faucet
a grey cloud filling my sink
with the partially clogged drain

Does it haze in shame
at the innocent danger?
Guilty of making people go ‘ah, shit!’

Hades drew his lot along with his brothers
and headed south
Cronus gone
how exquisite it must have been

the bending of what little air is left
And the symphony of shame
In a perpetual state
Of tuning to A
