I See a Young Girl

Poetry Aug 4, 2025

by Crystal Algarin

I see a young girl, she is hurt, she is sad and lonely. She cries, she tells me she has been left and forgotten for many years... She weeps. She is dirty, she is abandoned. She doesn’t know her name for no one has spoken to her.

I see this girl, she is beautiful, she is fragile. I go to this little girl. I pick up the little one and say “it is not right for a young child to be kept away in such a dark, ugly place.”

I will help her. I will take this little girl and I will feed her love and happiness. Joy and freedom.

I will comfort her. I will listen to her. I will cherish her. I will clean her and we will grow together.
She will not be forgotten again.
