Sleep Life

Poetry Aug 8, 2025

by William Roberts

Now I lay me down
Tender pillow, carry me softly

To a place, where butterflies
light on cotton candy and
bubblegum trees are never cut down

Pirouette, grand plié
Bearded iris, dancing star
Merci! A tout de suite

Guardian angel lays beside me
Wipes the tear from my eyes

Nudges the demons
From my distant memory

Then suddenly, sunlight beckons
Solemn slumber, sleep life ends

William Roberts has led a life focused on others. He draws significant influence from this service, as well as from his surroundings at home. Having worked for Fortune 500 companies (General Mills, Aveda, Del Monte Foods) and several smaller corporations, he has a deep understanding of what it takes to be successful. One of his proudest achievements was being part of a team that won a Golden Lion at the Cannes Film Festival. His focus has now turned to face painting, and fine art, specifically abstract cold wax/oil painting.
